This is a blog about my life. I wanted a way to include people in my life that could fit any schedule.

Happy Halloween!!

last weekend my school had their Halloween party and many students showed up to celebrate the devil's holiday. Marlito and i went as a pair of chopsticks. i made it from scratch with materials bought from the 100 yen shop. i think you could build a small house from the stuff at that store. i mean i got a full sized saw for 100 yen. seriously!!
here you have marlito and i, plus my coworker Tyde and Y-ko.

a bit of peace in the middle of all the hustle and bustle

so all around Roppongi Hills are a large number of serious businesses. in the surrounding couple blocks are the embassy's of about 30 different countries. everyone walking around is in a hurry and look like their jobs are the most important thing in the world (and maybe they are). it was nice to see that there was this beautiful garden for them to enjoy on their lunchbreaks. except one thing. as Marlito said, "here you have this great, nicely landscaped garden and then right in the middle is a horrible eyesore". as you can see from this pic, the intergalactic messenger has a great view of the garden.

intergalactic communication

ok, so this statue was in the garden by Roppongi Hills and it is supposed to be this great alien that can talk to all living creatures in the universe using the antennae on his head. and surrounding him are his 4 guardians. they all had names and different features but i can't remember anything of note. Marlito said it was one of the most hideous things she had ever seen but i think it is interesting. it just didn't fit in with the surroundings. oh, and the thing that the big guy is sitting on is a toad with over 100 eyes. apparently this sculpture is by some famous Japanese artist and this kind of colour scheme and the use of multiple eyes are his usual calling cards. let me know what you think.

that is a big... shiny... building

please bask in the glory that is Roppongi Hills! well actually i think the whole area around this building is also called Roppongi. it is a towering structure and other than Tokyo Tower, it might be the tallest building in Tokyo. we toured around outside for a couple hours and then headed inside to see an art museum, a display of Leonardo DaVinci's work and then a spectacular night view. i will post the night shots a little later. and i will also put up the day shots from Tokyo Tower for comparison.

the walk to Roppongi Hills

from Shibuya we walked to this cool newer area in Tokyo called Roppongi Hills. along the way we stopped at this temple and took a look around. in this pic you can see Roppongi Hills in the background. keep in mind that it is about 55 stories high.

shibuya (aka shiBUYA!)

well if anyone has seen images of Japan and the large number of people walking on the streets of Tokyo they probably saw a pic of this intersection. it is fairly famous and for good reason. when the light turns green you basically have 100-300 people crossing the street in all directions. we were there at night and it was crazy. marlito and i went back the next day and took some pics. they kinda show the craziness. this was on a weekday afternoon so it wasn't as busy.

MEOW!

an interesting ad at one of the train stations. that is the actress from "The Last Samurai" and yes, she does have a cat tail. because we all know that Panasonic flat screen TVs turn us into some sort of weird cat people.
